Enactus Members Attend Conference at Bryant University

As previously reported by the Stillman Exchange, the Stillman School and the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies was happy to welcome Enactus to the Entrepreneur Club this year.

Enactus is an international organization that challenges college teams to develop business plans with a strong social component. This year the SHU Enactus team will work to create, execute and evaluate a plan that improves the social welfare of a community in need. The team hopes to create a portfolio that they will be able to present at the Enactus National Expo in April 2015.

Over the weekend of October 4, two Enactus members, Entrepreneur Club President Selene Presseller (Junior ’16) and Amanda Speed (Junior ’16), traveled to Smithfield, Rhode Island to attend the Enactus Regional Leadership Conference at Bryant University.

The conference was open to all Enactus teams in the Northeast Region and was attended by around 25 different university teams. The agenda for the event included sessions on team recruitment, how to develop a strong social project and ways to effectively fundraise to support initiatives.

The day closed with a Career Fair that included only a small collection of the extensive list of companies that are established Enactus partners that actively recruit Enactus members.

The insight gained from the conference is sure to be an invaluable tool for the Enactus team in their first year. Additionally, the strong connections formed with other well-developed, successful teams in the area will prove to be key to the young team’s success.

All students who are interested in learning more about entrepreneurship or who have a passion for community service are highly encouraged to attend the club meetings on Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. in the Entrepreneur Center on the fifth floor of Jubilee Hall.
